All told, it's been quite a rough year, between the first and second Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival, for the folks at Another Planet Entertainment. They've first had months of planning taken away from them due to a legal battle over the effective rights to hold the festival in Golden Gate Park last fall, already faced somewhat of a backlash from music journalists over their rather hastily-fashioned lineup, and now that backlash has included even members of their festival's lineup.

Sunset Strip to hold festival in its own honor

While much more hubbub is being made about the anniversary of Woodstock, another festival across the continent from Yasgur's hallowed farm reminds us that the psychedelic movement that Woodstock symbolized had its roots in other places. The Sunset Strip for one, the street that nurtured The Doors, Love and other bands of mid-1960's, as well as the vast majority of all the hair metal music that came along in the mid-1980's.

Epicenter, a new music festival, to play at Pomona Fairplex in August

Inland Southern California helped spawn the traveling metal carnival of Ozzfest and the respected hip-hop of Rock the Bells, and now there's a new music festival turning up its amps for a go in the region. Epicenter will launch at the Pomona Fairplex on August 22 with a bill marrying metal, rock and some beats.
