Vibes kicks off 2010 campaign on "Tie-Dye Friday"

Gathering of the Vibes will return to Seaside Park in Bridgeport CT July 29 through August 1, 2010, for its 15th anniversay festival and fourth consecutive year at Seaside. A limited number of early-bird weekend passes will be sold at $135 beginning November 27, a day the festival calls "tie-dye Friday," a reference to its roots as a gathering of Deadheads.

The festival now reaches a broader demographic among the 20,000 of so annual weekend attendees, campers and single-day guests. The expansive Seaside Park provides a great site, featuring shaded groves, open fields, and more than a mile of Long Island Sound beachfront.

This year, the festival is offering a special deal with the Ramada Inn of Stratford CT for rooms for $60 a night and shuttle service to the festival grounds.

“Some people who’ve come to Vibes for years are telling me they just can’t camp any more,” said festival director Ken Hays. “Face it, we were younger when we thought sleeping in the lots at Grateful Dead shows was a good idea.”
