While candidates for the upcoming presidential election debate the best ways to bring about global peace and understanding, the worldwide dance music community has taken the matter into it's own hands, or rather they're taking the matter to the dance floor.

On September 13 all around the world, dance music lovers and peaceniks of all stripes will be shaking a tail feather for peace at Earthdance, the worlds largest simultaneous dance music festival.

Founded in 1997, with 22 cities and 18 countries participating, Earthdance events have occurred in over 350 cities in over 50 countries-from New York club-lands to the Brazilian rainforests. In addition to the thousands expected to attend this year's flagship events in Northern California, Wiltshire, England and Cape Town, South Africa, partiers will gather in over 300 locations around the globe for a weekend of dancing, meditating and OMing. The love culminates in the Prayer for Peace-a synchronized link-up when every event around the world plays a specially produced song then chants in unison-imagine a futuristic version of Abbie Hoffman and Allen Ginsberg's 1967 Pentagon levitation, minus the armed soldiers with maximum flower power.

The festival lineups are heavy on the electronics with special appearances by some internationally known musical freedom fighters and mavericks including Michael Franti and Spearhead, Digable Planets, Neko Case and Buckethead. Check out the video and see the Earthdance website for the event closest to you.
