The Anguilla Tourist Board and BET Event Productions, the producers of the Sixth Annual Anguilla Tranquility Jazz Festival, have nailed down the basic logistical framework for the festival and have come up with a list of major international jazz instrumentalists and vocalists who will be included in its overall lineup, which is TBA at this time.

The event will begin at the interestingly-named CuisinArt Resort & Spa, which is located on the shore of southwestern Anguilla's Rendezvous Bay, on Thursday, November 6th. This first evening will focus on dinner and a show by the perennial jazz-r&b crossover favorite, Patti Austin.

Friday, the most action-packed of the festival's four days, will put the spotlight on Anguillan and Caribbean artists with an afternoon block of sets-- the first set begins at 11:00 and the last ends at 5:00-- comprising the festival's traditional "Jazz on the Parkway," a part of the festival held at the Parkway of the National Bank of Anguilla, which is based in the capital, The Valley. Later, in the evening, the festival relocates to the Temenos Golf Club, the venue which will host the most performances of all that are scheduled, where maestros Arturo Sandoval and Christian Scott will close the day out.

Saturday will see Dee Dee Bridgewater no doubt pick up where Austin left off in terms of slick jazz crooning against poppy urban-dance grooves, followed by the expressive yet virtuosic stylings of Dean Fraser and, finally, the faithfully cosmopolitan pianist Michel Camilo.

Sunday, the 9th, will end the festivities at Sandy Ground Beach with more of the addictive smooth reggae of Mr. Fraser as well as performances by more local and regional artists.

The price of admission to concerts on each of the first three days is yet to be determined, but the shows on Sunday are free to the public. More on the 2008 Tranquility Anguilla Jazz Festival can be found at www.anguillajazz.org.
