The very first International Body Music Festival hit California's Bay Area just two days ago bringing hand-clappers, knee-slappers and finger-snappers altogether to make beautiful music. Keith Terry is the man behind this whole event. The 2008 Guggenheim Fellow and body music pioneer envisioned a festival where the world's first instrument could be appreciated and the art of it could be recognized.
The event is slated to last five days with the goal of weaving cross-cultural influences together into one body of sound by to make music with, well, one's body. The seven-year-old Savannah Music Festival has established a reputation for interesting programming crossing diverse musical boundaries, but their just-announced 2009 program may be the event's most interesting and most diverse yet. With top artists in various genres of jazz, roots, blues, world music, and classical, the upcoming festival, set for March 19 to April 5, 2009, puts a feather in the historic city's cultural cap.

The 2009 edition of globalFEST will be showcasing top international acts at New York City's Webster Hall, January 11, 2009. The line-up features Calypso Rose, Chicha Libre, Femi Kuti & the Positive Force, Hot 8 Brass Band, Kailash Kher's Kailasa, L&O, La Troba Kung-Fú, Marcio Local, Occidental Brothers Dance Band International, Shanbehzadeh Ensemble, Tanya Tagaq, Valkyrien Allstars, and Watcha Clan. In its sixth year, this leading showcase for international sounds takes place on three stages at the newly remodeled Webster Hall. With just one ticket, festival-goers can see thirteen acts in one night.

Door Dog Music Productions will present the ninth season of the San Francisco World Music Festival, themed The Reeds Give Way to the Wind, a reference to the poem, Small Song, by A. R. Ammons. The festival runs from November 9th through November 23rd in venues throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
