The Grand Canyon Music Festival has won the ASCAP Chamber Music America Award for Adventurous programming and here’s what’s in store for the second weekend of it’s 25th Silver Anniversary Season. Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, 13, 2008.

The festival presents pianist Joel Fan and the Enso String Quartet. These artists have garnered much high acclaim, The Boston Globe calls them “superb”, “extraordinary” says the Village Voice. Joel Fan is described as “versatile and sensitive pianist” by the New York Times.

Joel Fan and the Enso String Quartet make their debuts at the Grand Canyon Music Festival. A member of YoYo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble, Mr. Fan’s eclectic repertoire spans traditional classics and concertos, his own transcriptions and cadenzas, and newly commissioned works. His CD “World Keys” reached #3 on Billboard’s Classical Chart.

Winners of numerous awards, including the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, Enso has been called a “prodigiously talented foursome” by The Press (New Zealand).

Mr. Fan and the members of Enso will perform Mozart’s Piano Concert K. 414 and works by Rachmaninoff and Haydn.

The Enso String Quartet consists of: Maureen Nelson and John Marcus violin, Melissa Reardon, viola, Richard Belcher, cello.
